I know I won’t be wrong when I say most of you have come across his funny skits on different social media platforms. Today we want to introduce to you Mark Mwangi, known to many as Mark Mwas. He’s a content creator with a huge following on Instagram and Tiktok and many people seem to enjoy and laugh at the content that creates. He’s also a graduate of Kenyatta University where he also happened to start this creative process. We caught up with him via mail and here is what he had to say about himself.
How and when did you make your debut into comedy?
2019 February, I was bored in my room in campus so I just started creating memes and from there it’s been a journey
Kindly share the part of your story you feel the public should know about you?
I’m 25 years old, graduated last year December from Kenyatta University, I’m the 2nd born in our family.
Is comedy what you always wanted to do while growing up?
No, I wanted to be a pilot while in school.
What are the best strategies for memorizing involved monologues?
I actually don’t know, I just post what’s in my head at the moment.
What/who inspired you to make comedy?
Boredom, but I look up to Hahadavis
How would you describe the comedy that you typically create?
Short relatable skits
What is your creative process like?
I just post what’s in my head at the moment.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Who really makes you laugh?
Hahadavis and Khaby lame.
What’s the most memorable moments in your career so far?
I think it’s when I got my first big gig.
What have been some of your greatest challenge so far?
People asking for advice, thinking I have things figured out.
How do you handle hate and trolling as has been the norm for most celebrities?
I just ignore them, I only consider constructive criticism.
Have any of your comedic performance been harshly criticized?
Not yet and I hope to get none.
Your Tiktok videos are lit. How do you manage to be consistent?
I just like doing it, it comes naturally hence consistency is easy.
Were you the classroom joker?
Yes but not the loud ones 😂.
We notice that most of your comedy is resolved around the campus and secondary life, how do you come up with such ideas?
Through my personal experience and what I observed in school.
How do you feel the internet has impacted the comedy business?
It has helped me because I can create using my phone and get an audience without needing to go to auditions for TV.
What’s your observations about the entertainment industry?
Its doing good and growing in my on opinion.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Remove the withholding tax imposed on creators
