After a three (3) year musical hiatus, Muthoni Drummer Queen (MDQ), a Kenyan rapper, singer, and drummer, stepped back into the spotlight as a performer and panelist for the BBC Radio The Arts Hour on Tour.
The Arts Hour on Tour is a BBC World Service Radio arts and entertainment show that visits great cities around the world to explore their hottest trends and issues by talking to the artists that live there. The show features live performances, stand-up comedy, interviews, and conversations unpacking
how culture is evolving in Kenya sixty years since independence; as well as how the myths, histories, and traditions of Kenya shape ideas and art forms for the future.
Gracing the BBC Radio show alongside fellow industry experts like Actor Sheila Munyiva, Savara & Polycarp of Sauti Sol, and stand-up comedian Doug Mutai, MDQ crowned the night with a performance of Mythology, a song off her latest album River.
The album tells the story of a river extending itself from its source, meandering through different environments, adapting its form and content, enriching everything along its path, and ultimately returning to its source to begin the delicate dance all over again… MDQ is that river that flows and returns to self.
You are all invited to tune into the show as it broadcasts live on BBC World
Service radio: www.bbc.com/worldserviceradio on Saturday 18 March at GMT (11 PM EAT), Tuesday 21 March at 1006 GMT (1 PM EAT), and Wednesday 22 March at 0006 GMT(3 AM EAT).
