Every week, new local jams including gengetone songs are released, and here comes fast-rising Kenyan rapper and songwriter Murex teams up with Kenyan gengetone artist Swat Matire and Tash Beiby releasing ‘Tusere’ a party themed song.
‘Tusere’ is a Kenyan sheng word that loosely translates to Let’s party. The video was shot indoors in a club where they are all seen having fun. The song is an upbeat Gengetone jam that was produced by Byron Lertrupers and the video was directed by Tony De Gigz.
Having grown up listening to reggae and hip hop he says his music is often incorporated ideas from the two genres. Murex describes his type of music as feel-good music and also categorizes it as real music as his intention when in the studio is usually to create music people can relate to within their day-to-day life. He is not about to slow down anytime soon and is already making arrangements for his next project which is going to feature several top Kenyan rappers.
