Fast-rising Kenyan artist Sir Mwana enlists fellow artist Jimmy Law on their first duet dubbed “Akineta” following his single “Owange” which was released early this year and is still receiving massive support and airplay across major radios and Tv stations.
The audio was produced by Manny Mani of Touch Down Records and the video was directed by Prestone of Amj.
Akineta is a Luhya word that loosely translates to Agneta name of a girl. On the track, Sir Mwana and Jimmy Law turn out they are madly in love with the same girl, her irresistible beauty and charm sweeps them off their feet. They promise her heaven on earth, each trying to outshine the other.
In AKINETA, the artists highlight the unending discussion on the plight of the present-day girl child who is always confused between choosing true love or happy materialistic life, the song also shows the two sides of men and the perception revolving around winning a woman.
As seen in the video, Sir Mwana on one part is a well-off man with wealth and appeal and he uses his bossy lifestyle to promise AKINETA a better life. On the other side, Jimmy Law is averagely wealthy and all he offers the girl is good love and honesty, the girl is torn between the two and can’t make up her mind on who to fall in love with.
Sir Mwana is one of Western Kenya’s biggest Urban African crossover acts. He first found regional success in 2018 with the popular singles “Timbula” and “Katika” featuring S Kiddy Bwoy. However, as a budding artist, Sir Mwana became a darling of many in 2015 after winning the Airtel Uganda Music Award AS “The Most promising new artist”
