Blastaboss, the renowned Kenyan rapper hailing from Kitale and now based in the United Kingdom, has released his last track before retiring from the music scene. This news comes as a surprise to many of his fans, who have followed his career since the 90s.
Having recently completed his Master’s degree in International Business Management from Keele University, England, Blastaboss reflects on his journey from his humble beginnings in Kitale. His music career really blossomed in Uasin Gishu County, Eldoret, where he started his music career in gospel music before transitioning to secular music during his Bachelor’s studies at Mount Kenya University.
Throughout his career, Blastaboss has produced eight music videos, with “Dose” standing out as one of his most acclaimed tracks, recorded by Magix Enga in Nairobi at King Kaka’s studio, with the video filmed in various scenic locations across Kenya.
Blastaboss’s collaborations, particularly with artists like Billher, have been well-received, with songs like “Hizi Pande” becoming local hits in Eldoret. His career highlights include being selected as a judge for Tusker Kenya’s national project “TuskerNext100” in Eldoret and winning the “Who’s Next 254” battle at J’s Restaurant in Nairobi Westlands.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Blastaboss remains optimistic about the music industry’s future, stating, “The industry is on the right path, and growth is inevitable at the moment.” He is currently working on his new album, slated for release this year, featuring some of Kenya’s top artists.
While Blastaboss has not revealed any details about the collaborations on his upcoming album, he assures his fans that it will be worth the wait. As he prepares to bid farewell to his music career, Blastaboss’s final track promises to be a poignant reminder of his talent and influence in the Kenyan music scene.
