How would you best describe yourself?
I would best describe myself as a hip hop/trap artist who makes music in the most authentic style
When did you start music? Walk us through your musical journey so far?
I started doing music (actively) in 2020. My journey has been actually fun, as I have been learning quite a lot in the game…I released my first song in late 2020 and since then I have been consistently putting out music for people to listen to.
Can you speak briefly about your upbringing and how you got into music?
I came from a Christian-based family so I would sing hymns at my local church when I was young. I never took music seriously until like in high school when I was influenced by two of my friends who were also rapping.
We used to rap at the school talent shows so by and by I got into music.
What has been your experience navigating the Music industry?
As I said, I take every day as a learning day in the world of music…and I have learned that the music industry doesn’t need hit makers or trending songs. Artists don’t understand this. I have seen a lot of artists stress because they’re not making hit songs, but I personally think that as an artist you should be stressed when you find yourself not being true to yourself and not making an organic sound.
How would you describe your sound in the musical world?
I have two (main) sounds. Am I either rapping on boom-bap beats or soft trap beats? I have been working for like the longest time on trying to acquire a chill style of music, creating a psychedelic sound. I want my future tracks to bring a spacey vibe to my listeners.
What is your creative process like?
As a rapper, most of the time I first listen to a beat and I’ll detect the mood. If I want a specific theme to appear in the song, I first write down the topics as prompts and try to come up with lyrics regarding to them.
What artist has been most influential on your sound?
I listen to a lot of Kid Cudi, Travis Scott, and Quavo.
What inspired your singles? And which among them is your favorite?
Most of my tracks are inspired by topics revolving use of drugs and escapism from reality.
My fav single is Old Nick. It was inspired by my love for the Wild Wild West and the culture revolving around that time. Plus I like how I put on a solid flow on the track.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I would like very much to collaborate with Swahili Papi, Boutross, and also Karun.
What would you change in the music industry?
I would change this thing of artists waiting to be called for shows. Like we need to start putting together our own events as artists.
To the fans that support and listen to you what’s one message, you’d like to give them?
To everyone who listens and supports me, I appreciate them so much. I’d say keep on believing and pushing yourself because that’s what my music is all about. Hope.
What’s next for you?
Am releasing a couple of singles this year then my debut mixtape next year with amazing features.
