This upcoming May 1st, 2022, we will feature singer-songwriter Lydiah Dola.
Lydiah Dola is an Afro-fusion musician based in Nairobi, Kenya. She is a composer, singer, and guitarist with a career spanning over ten years.
Lydiah’s music began in and was grounded in activism hence the nickname ‘Artivist’; using her music to bring about positive change. Her music and career have been heavily influenced by Africa and other musical greats such as Miriam Makeba, Dobet Gnahore, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Tracy Chapman, Ayub Ogada, and others.
Lydiah began her musical journey with Dan “Chizzy” Aceda in a duet where they brought modern-day traditional music to the forefront of Kenyan music before going solo.
In her music, she speaks on and celebrates African history, culture, heroes and heroines, current social issues as well as love and popular culture.
