Lemme introduce you to BENNY ALI a musician who uses his art of music to tell stories and also as an outlet for self-expression. His humble beginning makes him take in pride forming strong alliances as he is constantly surrounded by love. Benny is a social guy and I caught up with him via email to hear how his journey started and how it has been so far.;
How would you best describe yourself?
I’d say I’m a jack of all trades who fell in love with music and uses it to tell stories and also act as an outlet for self expression
Kindly share the part of your story you feel the public should know about Ben?
I came from humble beginnings raised by a single mom I’m generally a social person always surrounded by love and I take pride in forming alliances
How would describe your music?
My music is art I take time in crafting it and it should be received with patience
Did you always want to be a music artist?
I never knew I would take music as a career until early 2020 but I can say this is what I was born and meant to do
Who inspired you to make music?
I get inspiration from of course the biggest artist in the world drake I know all albums by heart, J Cole was the first person who inspired me to rap and I’d say as an Afro-pop enthusiast I really admire Burna boy and Wizkid
What first got you into music?
I started out small saving money and buying studio time until I met Carpenter Michael who is one of my best friends and helps me curate this sound
What does your music say about you?
My music really says a lot about especially since I let people know the most about me I’d say my music defines me as a man.
And how long have you been in the music business?
I’ve been in the music business a little over 5 months now and I’m learning a lot
What is about music that makes you feel passionate?
The way music can spark an emotion in you that’s my biggest reward
How did your E.P ‘She loves me not’ come about?
It came about from just sessions with my producer and brother cap and we just pieced it together he told me to tell my story and that’s what I did.
What is the E.P about?
The EP is about my life my experiences and my perspective on other people’s experience.
Why this E.P? Why now?
I felt this would be a good way to set my foot in the game and it’s about time I’m only getting older so I just had to put it out I couldn’t wait any longer
What sets your music apart? What is unique or at least uncommon?
My music is raw it’s an emotion many artist know about it but they can’t do it and that’s why I feel blessed.
In your own opinion what is it like being a debut artist in these times?
In a generation so saturated with music it can be scary to get slept on but with social media it makes it much easier so I feel these times are much better than the old times to get heard out there
Do you have any other plans relating to this release? A video? Online Shows?
I’m currently discussing strategies with my team and I’ll show you guys real soon what’s in store we are constantly working on the brand
What has been the most challenging aspect of your current releases?
Just being new and unheard of especially since the dominant genres are so far apart from what my music offers
What is your biggest musical challenge?
I have no challenges I feel like I have it easy
What draws you to your preferred genre?
My inspiration and the music I listen to has molded my genre.
When you create music, what is your personal purpose or goal?
My purpose is to get paid ha-ha no I’d say really to connect with my fans
What inspires your writing?
My life experiences and what I see people go through I’d say
Of your music, do you have a favorite? If so would you mind telling us why it is your favorite?
I feel like my songs are my babies I really can’t choose my favorite I’m attached to all of them
If we were to look at the artist your are listening to, who would be on your playlist?
Of course a lot of Drake, Young Boy and Burna Boy tbh!
Who is your top favorite artist of all time? Why those artist?
My top artist is the man himself the boy, Drake
What can we expect from you within the near future?
A lot a lot a lot of music and visuals and shows
What is one message you would give to your fans?
To know that you have what it takes to live the life you want and not to try prove yourself to anyone but yourself
